Creating your own diva Avatar

As I was creating some online content for our blog, I came across this opportunity to discuss Doll making, and creating dress up games. My 9 year old daughter was nearby and she saw some of the images She was interested because they looked like Bratz dolls. We looked through the examples, and sure enough they had a section on Divas. You are allowed to mix and match different items of clothing and body parts to create your doll Avatar. For kids this is a great way to personalize their IM, and not post their own pic. ( WHich by the way some of daughters friends, actually post their photo) And with the crowd on the internet these days you never know who you are talking too.

Once you have completed the doll you can get the code to place on such sites as MySpace and other chat rooms or IM that allow the creation of your own avatar. For those that own a website and are looking to have new content for your customers, The Doll Palace offers script code to place the doll making function on your own site. You can either create a link or create a whole page dedicated to the creation tool.

They even have holiday and pirate themes to name a few for creating fashion games. My daughter and her friends have created several already and they are now looking to create the coolest one for a contest. It is harmless fun, and helps to emphasize creativity. So the next time you are in need of some creative imaging for a forum, try out the Doll Palace and see what your imagination comes up with.

Microsoft Access Training benefits

In the world of creating and using databases using Microsoft Access is one that is rather simple to learn, but provides some great tools and data manipulation for most users. If you need of brushing up on your knowledge or learning some new skills then getting Microsoft Access training online should be a top priority. At BestTraining they offer over 85 courses on Microsoft Access Training. These are MS Access certified trainers, so you can be assured that you are getting genuine advice and learnings. We use Access in some of our daily database management tools to create and maintain some of CRM data. I originally taught my self on MS Access about two years ago, reading through the larger books and picking out different scripting language to build and customize some of our databases. I started off using some of the basic tables, and forms fields to create and manage customer interactions. We also piped in Excel spreadsheets for orders and service requests. These all rolled into weekly and monthly reports that we used to help identify certain hot topics and problems across our services.

After taking some of the actual onsite courses, I was amazed at just how much more I could do without having to rely on outside programmers. there is no substitute for live training where you can interact with others to answer questions and provide real life scenarios. The instructors we had were great in their ability to make the content real life and not as technical. This was helpful, when idea to capture certain data, or have a certain report run, I no longer had to wait on others to get the proper coding done. I was even able through some of the advanced online learning’s, get a handle and successfully implement SQL queries and improve on our relational databases.

Access makes it very easy for those that do not wish to creat SQL language, by allowing simple to follow features, such as the table look up feature. We found this helpful when joining several tables that actually had to look up themselves to relate the data for different subsets. It is very important to name the tables with the extension such as “tblcustomers”, “frmscustomers”, as a good naming technique. We found this out early on a certainly saves a lot of time when cross referincing tables to forms, so we knew which were which.

Another key learining we got through our Microsoft Access training was that when using Access online we needed to make sure that we regularly optimized our databases to reduce the load on the server, and make sure there was minimal lag time in processing the customers request. Some of our earlier attempts created too many links and refernces so the table and lookups were not very efficient causing some serious lag time for our customers. So choosing function over fashion was definitely a lesson well learned. Here are some the pointers that have helped us streamline our tables:

1)Try and use several long tables rather than one wide (many fields) table.

2) Try to avoid AutoNumber fields when creating Primary Keys for a table. But rather use one or more data fields for this purpose.

3) Use Lookup lists with a link to lookup table linked to the main table for text fields.

Our Dream Home Improvement project

My wife and I were discussing whether the it was time to look for a new house. There are some additional features that we would love to have, but are not currently available in our current home. With the addition of 3 kids since we moved, in we really need to get some separation space so the kids can have their area as well. So we were thinking, what would be our home improvement project we could do, that would add value, and not have to relocate.

We came up with finishing our basement and upgrading our bathroom with a sunken tub and new master shower. The basement would include a game room for the kids, and a surround sound theater.

The master bath would include a larger sunken tub, that would have the marble backsplash, and the shower would be a walk-in with some of the newer ceramic tiles that actually make them more resistance to bacteria and mildew.

Poker Strategy revealed

At Vegas PokerPro (VPP) they offer an active community forum, free poker tournaments, reviews of online poker sites, and free poker gift promotions. They offer resources and strategy guides on such games as Texas Holed em, Omaha, and other online poker games. Another interesting concept is that offer free poker gifts for signing up and play poker through some of their featured poker rooms. This is truly a one stop shop for the Novice and Pro online poker.

They offer the VPP forum where you can chat with other online players with similar interests and find out who got burned on the river. This will be a tool I go to before entering the monthly neighborhood poker night to help me get some additional pointers. I have always wanted to learn the strategies of Omaha, since I have no clue, and tend to stay on every hand, when obviously I should not based on my losses. So next time you are ready to see the flop, and hope to catch a flush on the river, got to VPP, see what the pros say. And just maybe you will walk away with more than the big blind for chips.

Parents using tracking software

With the explosion of the social networking sites such as MySpace and others, parents need to have an option if they feel their children may be putting themselves in harms way without knowing it. I read an article the other day that talked about a software that is now available that will allow anyone on the web to see the location of any MySpace account. So any predators out there that access this software can now plug in a MySpace account, of a friendly kid they chat with online and use their MySpace account to find out their location.

Using tracking software such that is available from companies such as SpectorSoft
tracking software, parents can now be able to follow the actions of their kids while helping to block access to certain sites. Their software offers such features such as:

Records Emails

Chats, IMs

Web Sites

Programs Run

Keystrokes Typed

Peer to Peer File Sharing

Now to those who ask why should parents act like Big brother and is there a privacy concerns or the rights of the kids. As my Dad always said ” while you are in my house, you follow my rules” As our kids become more sophisticated and spend more time on the internet, parents needs to be able to have tools that will alert them to activities, that I believe are not meant to invade their privacy, but protect them from unknown strangers with bad intentions. Spector Soft even has a tracking software (called eBlaster) that will email all of the recordings directly to your email address. This is especially nice, since you can have all the tools and safeguards in place, but if you are unable to access the information in a timely fashion it is useless.

I look at those series that Dateline NBC has been running where these grown men are showing up at girls houses, expecting to meet an underage person. It is quite troubling knowing that these guys are out there in every part of the country.

The death of Adsense?

I started using Adsense about a year ago on one of our main traffic sites. It took about 6 months to start seeing an kind of CTR and actual dollars. Funny thing is that once we started getting closer to the $100 thresh hold, we got a nice letter from Google stating that our account was being monitored, and there could be possible account closures. We actually hit the $100 payout and were awaiting our check, when 2 days before the payment was to be made, Google closed our account with the standard email, that because of reasons that they cannot explain, they had to terminate our account. I understand this has happened to quite a few people.

So the model as it stands is not very lucrative for small website owners.. The new model challenges the Adsense model for bloggers, in that you actually get paid for your hared work, and you know rather quickly if you meet the advertisers needs. I am all in with Pay Per Post, and hope to see them expand and widen their advertiser list. The reponse has been awesome, and the future looks very bright.

Phishing or Vishing The new threat!

I just read this article today on a new scheme that is called “Vishing”. While most are familiar with the “Phishing schemes” Where you receive an email from your bank or PayPal letting you know that your account has been compromised, and you need to log in and verify information. While the site you log into looks just like your bank or PayPal site, they are actually not, and then gather your information to use to open credit under your name, or wipe out your PayPal account. Now it appears that they are moving to VOIP customers as their next target. They find VOIP numbers, and then through the internet call customers, disguising their true caller ID, via software, and ask the person to call a specific number to verify their information. They pose as the bank or credit reporting agency, and then there is a series of voice teleprompts that lead the consumer through the verification process. Please be warned. If asked call the number on your bank statement or back of your credit card.

This is just a public message for my readers.

Auto loans and the title loans. What are they?

Posted on 10th February 2010 by admin in Auto Finance

Title loans are named thus because of the lenders demanding the certificate of ownership of the vehicle, known as the title. The borrowers are thus not restricted from making use of the vehicle during the period of the loan, because only title is held by the lender.

Title loans are generally taken for a shorter term. Like other short-term loans, the title loans too are expensive owing to the higher interest rate. Title loans fulfil short-term needs. Immediately as the borrower gets hold of resources, he pays the title loan and recovers the title to his automobile. Therefore, the cost that a person has to incur in terms of interest is lesser.

However, a clear title on the vehicle is the prerequisite for such loans. This also helps in accelerating the process of approval of the loans. These loans are customarily faster approved than the regular loans. As soon as a borrower approaches the lending organisation, the loan is sanctioned after making some necessary checks regarding the credit history of the borrower, and whether he has a clear title to the automobile.
