As far as Europe is concerned the public transportation in that country is so good that people in Europe prefer to travel using the public transport facility instead of their own vehicles. You can also buy tickets from the kiosks or other such automated machine arrangements that are placed along the stations in Europe. They make life easier just that these machines might not accept credit cards and it is advisable to carry some coins whenever you go to buy tickets.

The Journey

There are automated machines that check for the ticket before you enter your bus or subway to start your journey. Once you are boarded on to your bus/subway you have attempted to successfully complete the second quarter of battle of travelling in a new country using their public transport. Now is where lies the true challenge, figuring out where to get off and how to get off.

Subways are easier to understand as they have maps in their trains and along the platforms to guide you about, which subway to take and which station is yours. There is an announcement that is made on the arrival of the station and would help you know where to get off. Buses are not as thorough or equipped as the subways, as they won’t have announcers telling you the station. So, the map that you buy will be handy in such cases helping you know where to get off.

The transport in Europe is self-explanatory and is definitely an experience worth having while you are in a European country.

We make an annual trip to Florida in January to DisneyWorld with our three kids. This year, though we will be joining family to travel through the park. There will be 15 of us staying in a two bedroom condo, for the 6 day excursion.

In planning our Florida Holidays in the past it was much simpler in that we could plan for ourselves. Now coordinating the likes and dislikes of 10 other people may prove to be a challenge. We are using planning guides and have mapped out the best days and times to visit the different parks. There will be a total of 5 kids, all under the age of 8, and all they want to do is see Mickey and Minney. We have scheduled the breakfast with the characters, which if you plan on doing this, you need to plan well in advance. The times book up very fast. Anyway, lesson learned. I just wish my Nav unit could tell me where the cheapest place is to get gas these days?

Up in the NW the deer and elk season will be starting soon which is a blessing for some and a curse for others. Local farmers are not particularly thrilled since they tend to get a lot of trespassers coming through fields chasing the deer and elk as they graze on the left over wheat and grasses from harvest. For elk you need a specific tag to be able go out and hunt so there are not as many legal hunters roaming around for this particular animal. In keeping with the Poker Theme I wanted to post about a poker game that was introduced by one of our neighbors called Have a heart. It is a 7 card stud game, where your low hold card is wild. As the cards are dealt, if you are dealt a heart you are allowed to exchange that card for any other up card on the table. What makes it interesting, is that with the low hold card wild, you may change your Heart card, and end up giving your neighbor a match of the low hold card. You then bet after each round and you can play pot limit to make it more interesting.Very interesting games, and usually a 4 of a kind or straight ends up winning.
